Los Tubos is a local gem, and while it's an amazing place to catch some waves, it's also important to be cautious. The waves can be strong, especially if you're not used to swimming in rough surf, so always keep safety in mind. Even on calm days, dangerous currents may still be present. And as with all beautiful spots on the island, be sure to leave the beach as you found it—clean and litter-free—so it remains a place for everyone to enjoy.

What to Expect:
Los Tubos gets its name from the tubular waves that roll in, especially during the winter months when the surf is at its peak. The waves can be strong, so it's important to be mindful if you're swimming. Even if the ocean looks calm, dangerous currents can occur, so always swim with caution. However, there’s plenty of space along the shore to relax and watch the surf, making it a perfect spot for picnics or a peaceful beach day. Because it’s a popular local spot, Los Tubos has a laid-back vibe with fewer tourists, making it an authentic Puerto Rican beach experience.
How to Get There:
You can easily find Los Tubos by entering "Los Tubos Beach Manatí" into Google Maps. The beach is just off PR-686, and there’s parking available near the entrance. From there, you’ll have direct access to the beach. Keep in mind that theft can occasionally be an issue if you park along the sandy spots by the road. We recommend checking on your car every once in a while to ensure everything stays secure.
What to Bring:
-
Surfboard or bodyboard: If you’re an experienced surfer or want to try out the waves, don’t forget your board.
-
Beach umbrella or tent: There isn’t a lot of natural shade, so bringing your own is a good idea.
-
Snacks and drinks: While there are sometimes local food vendors nearby, it's best to bring your own supplies to stay hydrated and energized.
-
Towel and extra clothes: Whether you’re surfing or just relaxing by the shore, you’ll want an ALSi towel and dry clothes (check out our TEEs).
-
Sunscreen and a hat: The sun can be strong, so it’s important to protect yourself, with one of our many stylish ALSi hats, especially if you’re spending the day.
